Winter Solstice

This desert willow tree so black against the sky, and not so long ago laden with beautiful pink flowers and vibrant green leaves, prepares for winter.

Winter Solstice beckons me to go within, hibernate more than usual, release, and prepare my metaphorical hearth for greater creativity. I shine the light from this place, from every space I find myself, and those I’d intended to be in all along.

May you hear the siren call of your inner self during this special time of year. May your intuition and clarity be strong and your heart grateful and generous.

My next book is set during this time—the transition between autumn and winter, the days before and after Winter Solstice. I easily picture the Andersen Lighthouse beacon reaching out for miles, shining its light to protect and guide. In my mind, I stand in the gallery level of the tower beside keeper Luther Andersen as he scans the horizon with his meta-normal senses.

Here where I live, the desert sky, with its bold planets and twinkling stars, feels extra dark shrouded in the inky black of night. Winter Solstice and the holiday season is a perfect time to crank up the brightness and shine our light!

New School

The (working) title of Book 2 in the Meta-Normal Novel series comes from the name of Mystic Creek High School’s winter dance—Winter Soulstice. The dance will be a celebration of soul music and soulful comfort food of the area’s varied peoples. They’ll be whooping it up in retro Motown-like style on the dance floor. Georgie and Josefina have been more than distracted by meta-normal business, but Shawn already has his tuxedo, thanks to Aunt Darlene.
